As a native Southern Californian, Chef Joni Wilhelm, owner of Delicious Decisions, Personal Chef Service grew up with a bountiful supply of fresh local fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood as part of her family meals. Living where year round gardens are possible, combined with the Midwestern family meal traditions of her mother and grandmother, led her on the path to the many joys of cooking and healthy cuisine from an early age. Summer visits with her grandmother resulted in learning many of the forgotten skills such as canning, freezing, jams and jellies and even German style hand rolled and cut noodles. Digging up new potatoes, picking vine ripe tomatoes, harvesting, and snipping green beans from the garden to the table was an everyday event! Her mother enjoyed cooking, but was also a “working mom,” so by far; her favorite chore became helping with dinner preparation!

Raising four daughters was her “job” for many years and priority and value was placed on healthy eating habits with dinner time being family time. Rarely was fast food on the family menu since the family tropical plant nursery was somewhat remote and the 30 minute drive would have made it inedible, so home cooked meals were standard fare for the family. With four children keeping her busy, many times Joni made several of each meal, one for dinner that night, and one or two for the freezer. Family and friends visited often, sometimes for entire weekends so there was always a lot of cooking going on in the kitchen. Whether she tried out gourmet recipes from her extensive cookbook collection or just grilling steaks on the grill, entertaining was always very satisfying & rewarding.

Becoming a single mother led Joni back to the working world as a marketing public relations coordinator in the dental field for the next 10 years. Dinner became very important, as it often was the only time to sit down together as a family. Two years ago, while surfing the internet, Joni came across the Personal Chefs Network website and the lights came on! This is what she wanted to be when she grew up! The support of the “PCN family of personal chefs”, along with my family & friends, has helped Joni build her personal chef business into a diversified variety of services. Planning, preparing & packaging meals for clients, dinner parties and buffets, even romantic dinners for two are all offered by Chef Joni. Plans to expand and offer cooking classes, cooking and “murder mystery” dinners are in the works, as well.

Free time for Joni and her family enjoy camping trips to the desert where they enjoy dune buggying, and offroading, trips to the Colorado River for water sports, snow skiing and of course….enjoying meals with friends and family at home.

With a variety of clients ranging from those with health & special diet requirements, young families wanting their children to know the joys of healthy, homemade meals, vegetarians, & single working mothers, Delicious Decisions serves the North San Diego County & Temecula Valley areas. Being named the March PCN Pacesetter is an honor and fabulous way for her to celebrate her 2nd anniversary as a Personal Chef and member of the Personal Chefs Network!
