*********
Born and raised in California, personal chef Coco Jacobs grew up eating and loving a wide variety of fresh local cuisine. She fondly remembers her father’s frustration as her mother refused to re-make her delicious tried and true dishes at their many lovely parties. Instead, her mother reveled in trying out new and interesting dinner party recipes - usually with great success. And so began Coco’s love of all things food related.
After college she found herself working in the apparel business with foreign contractors, which entailed numerous business trips to Asia. It was soon apparent that the focus of her trips was on tasting and enjoying the new and exotic foods of each country she visited. While many of her co-workers were out clothes shopping, Coco could be found wandering the streets to sample fares from local street vendors. Eventually the focus of that business changed and in December of 2004 Coco found herself looking for a new job. It was a conversation that New Year’s Eve that changed her life. Her mother-in-law told her about an article she’d just read about personal chefs. Coco recalls, "I had no idea what a personal chef was, but the idea intrigued me. That night I got on the Internet and started my research. The next day I registered for the Personal Chefs Network free forum and in a matter of months I'd become a member and had all the tools necessary to start my own business." Flour Girl Personal Chef of San Francisco was founded, and by June of 2005 Coco was cheffing full time and loving every minute of it.
A year later, Coco is living every entrepreneur's dream. She loves the satisfaction that comes with helping busy families and singles sit down to wholesome and delicious home cooked meals at the end of their day. With a wonderful husband and teenage son at home, she chooses to chef Monday through Friday, leaving the dinner parties and catering for her fellow personal chefs. Her evenings and weekends are reserved for friends and family and lots of fun experimenting in her own kitchen. One of the highlights of her career was attending the Personal Chefs Network convention this May in Las Vegas. She was thrilled to be honored with the Golden Whisk Award for 'Newbie Personal Chef of the Year'.
"My only regret is that I did not think of this years ago," says Chef Coco. "I'm living my dream, doing what I love and working for myself in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It’s an incredible honor to be named Pacesetter by the Personal Chefs Network - it's the icing on this DELICIOUS cake that is my fabulous career!"
